Extraction of Oil and Gas

The production of oil and gas industries uses Inconel because of its good water temperatures and high hardness. The oil and gas industry has discovered super-alloy metals like Inconel that can survive harsh conditions and toxic, unstable gasses.

Applications for Saltwater

In protective coatings, Inconel Alloy 600 pipes are often used because of their excellent resistance to sodium chloride (salt) at a range of temperatures. Therefore, in activities using salt or in industrial estates near the water, Inconel may be useful for cleaning basket parts.

However, some stainless steel alloys also exhibit exceptional seawater resistance. When will Inconel, therefore, be regarded as preferable?

Generally speaking, if high temperatures of more than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit were not a concern, this superalloy would be considerably more efficient than grade 316 stainless steel. Compared to 316 SS, Inconel can maintain its oxidation tolerance at higher temperatures.
